Thread: Save the etching?

So I picked up this ERN Crown and sword with the intention of cleaning it up. Had some good luck with an ATOR that cleaned up well and is now a really good shaver.

It looks like if I want to sand down to clean steel I'm going to lose the etching. Any advise? clean or keep?
