light colored horn scales
Is there a source for these scales?
Most of the ones I see on Ebite are very old and cracked, not something I want to start re-handling with.
Can these old horn scales be repaired?
I love the way rams horn scaled razors look and I find myself looking for this material, sadly to no avail...
What have any of you done in this area?
Any help would be great.

Try looking for merino sheep's horn (or merino horn)? Knifemaking material suppliers ought to have scales of merino horn.

Frag, searchs are not my forte... I found alot on sheep but nada on horn scales...
Ha found some... Do they sand down well or are they always that color? Kind of expensive to play around with testing...Last edited by DwarvenChef; 06-21-2007 at 03:35 AM.

The horn from the European cow is the same color as on the vintage horn handled razors, yellowish-translucent-light brown.
I was given 3 of them, but I discarded two, and left one to try and make scales...
