Uncentered blade
So I bought a new 5/8th dovo from SRD a year ago and shaved up until needed a refresh and I sent to SRD for the refresh. I have it back and when I go to close it's sometimes hitting the scale.
I tried looking on here and saw a lot of possibilities. Was thinking since it was new that maybe I'd just give a few taps on the top pin. But then I couldn't decide tap on the side that it's curving into or flip over and tap on the side it's curving away from?
Thoughts?

Tap the way you want the blade to go. Gssixgun has a video on YouTube about it I'm pretty sure. Light taps with like a 4oz ball peen. I just read too if you have a heavy spoon that will work too.
Nothing is fool proof, to a sufficiently talented fool...

So I did a little tapping, my blade is tighter, moved a little, not enough, ideas?

More tapping is not always the answer. If a few to several taps doesn't fix it, it might just keep getting tighter and harder to open the blade, or even worse, the scales could crack. I have a few that I just live with not centering, I just use my finger and guide it on center when closing, not a big deal. Sometimes the issue requires unpinning to fix and sometimes having the original pins intact is worth more to me than the blade centering perfectly.

Thanked: 59Honestly, the way these razors are made mechanically I'm surprised they close at all without hitting the scales. If they were centered well before when it was new then I think that the plastic or whatever they use is warping. Most of the razors I see are made looking like no attention was put into centering the blade into the scales. Look up Chris Reeves knives and how well they are made, razors, all of them are the opposite of that quality unless some kind of better non bending or warping material is used. Banging on the pin ends with a spoon or ball and peen hammer is not going to do anything but make the blade tighter in the scales.
