    Default Paddle strop for crox

    Hi guys:

i am interested in making my own paddle strop for using crox paste. Would you recommend felt or balsa wood. I plan to use walnut wood but I am open to any other suggestions. Maybe have one side for crox and the other for diamond spray (I have never used diamond spray).

I am open to any feed back.

    Thanks

I like leather for paddles, same for Diamond, (smooth Veg Tanned). For hanging pasted strops, Canvas, Sailcloth, (Polyester Canvas) is easier to work and seems to hold together a bit better when cut.

Pretty much you can paste almost anything from plain wood to cloth or paper with Chrome Oxide or Diamonds. Try cardboard for experimenting, inside of a cereal box.

I only use paddles for knives, and tools. Prefer hanging strops for razors, it is easy to apply too much pressure to a paddle, looms are kind of a compromise.

A while back, couple years ago, Balsa was all the rage, then new guys were complaining about harsh and chippy edges.
