Brass grasshopper strop burnisher
I started this project about 30 years ago. Today I was looking through some stuff and found this grasshopper that I cast in brass. As I held it in my hand I thought it may work as a strop burnisher. The following is what I ended up with. I rounded off and polished the sprue. It worked as expected but it left the strop darker from the metal wearing off.
A fun morning!

Is the brass coating the leather a show stopper? If you don't care where you are, you are not lost.

Brass is such a dirty metal that's a cool grasshopper though

Could it be polished, then coated in some type of epoxy or sealant?

A show stopper would probably be extreme but I don't think that I will make another. Other than the coloring it didn't hurt the strop or stroping that I noticed.
Brass strop dressing?
Used an old strop that I made to play with. The lower section in the picture is before
I hadn't thought of it before but I suppose that is why it would be good to make a darker strop.

I think you gave it some vintage character.
