    Default Acrylic Scale Polishing Inquiry

For those of you that make scales out of acrylic, do you buy your pieces with a protective film on them or is there an in depth polishing regimen you employ to make your finished product clear, and if so what polishes do you use?

I just keep sanding up in grit to micro mesh then hit it with some buffing compound.

Chevhead shared the regimen to pretty much any polishing, sand until the previous grit scratches are replaced by the grit you used prior on up to high grit then buff with polish. If you rush this process you will know as soon as you use your liquid or paste polish there will still be scratches.

Haven't done too many acrylic scales, but with my acrylic brushes I wet sand up to 2500 wet and then hit it with a plastic polish.

Be careful when you buff. It is easy to overheat the surface of the acrylic. That can cause later crazing, cracking, and breakage. Seen it happen too often.
