Putting a handle on a Kami HELP
its been a long time since i have asked for advice on this site... i actually am thinking about putting a handle on some tamahagane kamis i have, the good thing is i have some additional blades that aren't so i have practice blades hahaha. now with that said i have been punching holes in the blades and i'm having issues with them being centered on one side and not on the other. I assume this is because the kami isnt perfectly flat so its causing this issue... i purchased some feeler gauges to try and alleviate these issues from happening, my other thought is to grind a groove for the material to sit in (i dont think im that good at my grinder yet) but i think it would make it less bulky
the next thing i need suggestions on is actually the best way to attach these, right now im thinking about using some brass to peen them on to the kami and then also using epoxy underneath it kinda like a knife handle... if i do that should i remove the scale from these hand forged blades and give it clean steel to sit on?
also if there are things that im not thinking about, im very much open to ANY suggestions and would love to hear what everyone thinks and do this project like i used to with the SRP crew....
thanks
Fonz
