Thanked: 0Help with rust!!
Okay, I bought a razor off e-Bay (how many threads start that way ... like the typical blues song ... )
It's a very nice Joseph Rodgers wedge ... generally it's a really great razor, but along the edge of the blade there are several rust marks ... I'd say no more than a 16th of an inch ... which I'm kind of miffed about.
Now, the vendor said 'rust free', so maybe I can go through the whole rigamarole of getting a refund ... but if these rust spots are not that big of a deal, then maybe I can keep it and just clean them up ... heck, a bood honing and they're probably mostly gone.
So ... is this a minor problem or a major one? We're talking about a wedge, probalby about a 7/8 or so. Otherwise it's in great shape, and I don't really want to part with it ... I just want the rust gone.

If the rust is mild I would just use some MAAS polish to take it off. This is the least invasive approach and will not leave any visible scratches in the metal. While you are at it you should probably just MAAS the whole blade to get it shiny again.

If you'd never heard the name before... how would you know it?

Its an abrasive paste that lends itself well to polishing metal...

If that doesn't work the next step is to get some Cape Cod Cloths. They contain actual abrasive though the maas is more a chemical abrasive. If the cloths don't work then you need some real abrasives.
