I recently received this H. Boker Damascus magnetic steel razor, and was cleaning it up before honing. The thing is that I don't see any sort of damascus pattern in it. Did Boker use Damascus steel or was it just a name that was put on the razor? Is there a way to make the pattern show up if they did use Damascus steel? The only Damascus that I can compare it to is the ones that I've seen on here of Bruno's.

That's a good question someone with knowledge will be along to help you but I think it was a marketing thing. I don't believe it is what we usually think of when we hear or see Damascus.

It was a marketing thing. The magnetic part was as well. The magnetic was suppossed to pull up your hair because of the minerals and metal in your body, thus a closer shave. Back when this blade was in production the only damascus blades were being made in Japan by the masters.
Here is what a 7 day set of them look like. Different tree branches denote different times made.

Purely marketing, unfortunately, but still a very good shaving razor.

A marketing thing was a suspicion that I had, because I would think that the Damascus pattern would still show up even on an old blade. Very impressive set that you have there. So the branches on the tree tell when it was made? Is there a database on that to be able to date them?

It should be as good as a shaver as the other bokers that I have. Those have honed up nicely and hold the edge over time.

Do a search for Boker Tree brand. I can't from this phone. There are a few listings in the image areas of the different search engines.

Well Richard I did a little research and came up with a few items on finding the roundabout age of a Boker, all on our site here.

I haven't had time to look at my bokers to figure out approximate age. But I think that these pics will be very helpful. Thanks to all you guys for the knowledge you share with us who want to know more.
