    Default New restoration in progress

    Hi,

Been a while since I've been on here, but the razor bug bit me again and I managed to acquire 4 blades from ebay (I was on the verge of getting a lot of 10 when my wife stopped me).

Naturally one of the blades was missing a substantial chip at the toe, and when I got it the rust was worse than I expected from looking at the pictures.

So here is how I got it:

After some work with a razor blade, scotch brite pad, and MAAS, I made it look like this:

The tang reads Henry Martin Hamburg on one side and Theo A Kochs Co Chicago Made In Germany on the other side. A little time with a dremel, and after some wood selection and sanding, I have arrived at this point:

    Scales are padauk.

I managed to save the original (lead?) wedge from the scales, and now I find myself at a dilemma.

If you look at the second to last picture, with the paper scale template showing, there are two dots at the wedge end. The one on the left is where I had originally intended to place the pin, but the dot on the right is where the pin has to go if I use the original wedge (which I would like to do).

My question is, will the razor pin properly if I use the original wedge and put the pin that far from the end of the scales?

    I appreciate any help/input!
