    Good afternoon Gents.

A friend of mine gave me a bunch of old straights (I am very lucky :-))

one of them has suffer rust at the end.

    I am wondering. Do I:

remove the damage area and short the blade from its original length?
do a smiling razor to keep the length?
keep it has is as a collector item?

    Thx.

    John

I would probably keep it as collector item but if I were to use it I would make it a shorty

Yup, in that condition it has no collector value so make it a shorty or part of a wind chime.

Do I see it correctly: is the blade indeed 1.5" long?!

I think you're reading it right. Wow, a shorty from a shorty. Might still work well as a beard grooming device.

In that case it was probably a souvenir/advertisement or maybe a corn razor. I don't think making a 1" (long) blade out of it will give you something very useful. Maybe a corn razor again...

I've been known to take a coarse India stone to corns on my feet, followed by the fine. Works wonders. ;-)

Now that you mention it, my chart must be wrong since it looks like of a regular (?) length to me :-)

I will correct the chart and send some new pics.

    Cheers
