Question?
This set of razors I just received one of them have a fairly large dark place on it from a probably no. 2 pencil. Is this to show it's ivory or plastic.
I know that if you stick a hot pin to plastic it will melt and ivory want so is the pencil another way to tell.

Being I can practically see through them, the collarless pinning and coloration around them. I'd say IVORY !!

That's my thought on the subject but I did just get a peace of hard plastic and tried to write on it with a #2 pencil. barely made a mark more of a scratch than leaving any graphite on it. I did clean them up some and the markings came right off. The blades are shinny as new. Tickled I am.

Thanked: 3228I just took a pencil to scales of one of my Ivory scaled razors. It did leave faint graphite marks on the scales. Possibly a softer pencil would have worked better that the 1600 HB I had. It all disappeared with a few light swipes of an eraser.
You might be on to something there as a new way to tell ivory from plastic scales. BTW I'd bet my bottom dollar those razors have Ivory scales on them just from looking at them.
