First full restoration
I bought an interesting Shumate Tonso razor recently. This is the first razor I've fully broke down and put back together. Have been practicing honing and pinning on others. It was the scales that were the draw for me. But they had something like super glue residue that had to be removed with a razor blade then the resulting scratches polished out.
The blade is manganeese steel. I thought that was just marketing. However, it made bevel setting difficult, because I could not see any light shining from the bread knifed bevel like other razors I've worked on. It took a wicked edge and shaved well this morning.

Well done.!!
Its a real blast, tearing them down, and putting them back together. And shaving off a fresh, new edge, is the icing on the cake.Mike

Great job, that's a good looking razor. The scales are fantastic! It's a very rewarding hobby because you get to use what you worked on, time to start on your second one...
