I need suggestions to remove the darkening from the right half of these patterned scales. Suggestions?

Thanked: 104Prolonged bright light exposure. I wouldn’t want to bleach it.

I was gonna say. Wet toothbrush dipped in Barkeep's Friend.
If it don't come off, it's in the scale. You can paint those, you know...."Don't be stubborn. You are missing out."
I rest my case.

Thanked: 315If you think it is something on the surface that can be cleaned, try polishing them. If they have actually gotten darker that is a head scratcher.

I clean scales like this with a gun cleaning brush. A toothbrush will also work. Put a little dish soap on the brush and give them a good scrub. You’ll be surprised by how well they clean up. Then rinse them with warm(not hot!) water. Be sure to dry everything very well and let them air dry for a good 24 hours.

Also, like Sharptonn said, they can be painted.
These looked much worse than yours when I started.Last edited by BeJay; 11-23-2017 at 06:06 AM.
