I don't know about the osb, but the tounge depressors could work..... maybe dye them, and then cast them in some epoxy to build up the outside part, sort of a see through style set of scales.
the best part of razor making and or modification and restoration is just to have fun with it I think!

Lignum vitae is very good for scales. Hard as hell and no finish needed
