Thread: fixing a bent toe...

Good thing the bend is quite tiny. I would simply hone past it on a bevel setter, you might be able to get ahead start on it with a DMT card or a diamond file. It is going to be a tad tricky. I would expect if you try to bend it back it will snap and you may run a crack making it worse. There is a small risk of there is a crack hiding there. Give it a good look with a loupe before you do anything.

Thank You RezDog. I was wondering if heating it just a bit to try to bend it back but Im not sure with the metal being so thin. I will look at it threw a loupe tomorrow to check for cracks, as it is Michelob time here in NY.

You'll risk damaging the blade's temper with heat. This is why Dremels are so frowned upon for beginner's undertaking minor razor restorations.

I too had bought a razor on ebay and got a bent tip. I comlained and got a refund. He didnt want the razor back. I tried to bend it back in shape and the tip snapped off. Its now in the to-do box. Trust me, just file or grind the bend out. Looks like you could just make a rounder point. Mine was square. Good luck.

The best thing you could have done is ask first, which you did.

I often think back to the many times in life that I was afraid or too proud to ask..and the poor results of that not asking.

I've had a couple with those, I believe I grinded the out sticking part flat with my dmt and then honing as usual
