I also get mine from TX Knife. I do notice that it is slightly larger in diameter than my brass. So, it is very tight in a 1/16th hole. Are they like that from every place?

I always use a 5/64 drill bit. That little bit more accommodates for any extra thickness in the pinning rods. Most of the original pins were smaller than 1/16".
Glen points out the importance of using the 5/64 in this video:

I'm a 5/64 guy as well.
Also, be aware that the nickel silver is very soft, much more so than brass.

Some early pinning..1700's was done with iron pins. And holes to 3/64ths were used.
This found on some two century old blades.
YMMV

Just now looking at Texas knifemaker's Supply to get some of this Nickel Silver rod, and I saw that they have preshaped straight razor scales:

Anyone here ever use these?“If you don't know, the thing to do is not to get scared, but to learn.”

I always wonder about pre-made scales. Not all razors are the same shape and size. They do look nice. I like the look of the red ones. Might be worth a shot someday. Wish i had noticed this when i made my order.
It's just Sharpening, right?

Thanked: 315Before ordering any of those scales, you may want to find out if they are uniform in size and both are the same thickness. I went through a whole container of similar looking scales from an Indian? horn/antler/bone material company and I couldn't find any I would want to drill and fit as is. Some had more curve than was necessary as well. If you're planning to use the belt sander anyway you may not care.

Even if you had to reshape or shorten them, the price is right. The place is close to me.
Mebbe I will get a variety of blades together and go check them out.
