    Default Removing Dubl Duck hardware

Gents - been a while since I've been in here much. Life settled back down again so I'm walking around again with sliced up fingers from restorations - feels good!
Question: A few years ago a guy in SoCal that went by 6Pups (I think) was restoring a bunch of Dubl Ducks and he worked out a great way to remove the hardware on the scales so as to put them on new ones. Does anyone recall his handle or (more importantly) how he removed the hardware without damaging it all? Looking to salvage the Dubl Duck logo and other hardware from a few damaged scales. Thanks - AC

    AC,
gssixgun has a video on Youtube showing how its done. He just made new scales for a Flic Gold for me and reused the inlay. Did an excellent job of it.

Acetone is your friend. It will pop the inlays right off.

I knew I had a half gallon in my shop for some reason. My 17 year old daughter tends to steal it for nail polish remover so I bought an extra and hid it - just now remembering why. Thanks.

I have read those old threads. It seems an important step is to polish the bits before removal. It is easier then and after remounting there may be glue on the hardware here or there that may hamper polishing.
10pups was one of the guys doing the duck restores and hardware swaps. Chevhead was the other guy. I am sure there are threads, and Glens work was already mentioned and it’s all worth looking up.

Just be careful, especially with the Dubl Duck main inlay as it's paper thin. Here's an old thread from Dan and Glen.
