G10 Modification
I bought a set of G10 Jerry Stark scales from @Phoenix51. They are beautiful red.
I have a large Joseph Rogers blade to rescale. Now Jerry uses screws that require a larger hole, so I drilled out the hole while I was waiting for delivery. The scales arrived and I couldn’t get the scales to work on my blade — that was already drilled out.
As pictured below, the blade wouldn’t stay closed. Pic 1 shows that if I forced it closed then released it, it would open this far. I came to realize that Jerry’s razors have a straight or straighter tang than my blade. And even though the scales have a proper wedge, the scales just won’t bend how I need them to. G10 is so rigid.
I tried so many alternatives. Finally, here is how I resolved it. I later shortened the screws and the post that serve as the pivot.

Looks good. I'm wondering if the cut out area provides a good place for fingers when shaving.
The way I've been addressing this issue is by using a wedge that spreads the scales a bit farther. One thing I haven't tried, though want to, is to put a third pin for the blade to rest on as well as spreading the scales a bit.

The way I hold the razor, it doesn’t really help or hurt.
A 3rd pin to spread the scales, is pretty good thinking. I didn’t have that in my arsenal back then, but have done a set of 3 pin scales recently.
I had looked into using a wide spacer instead of the wedge, but my blade slipped all the way through. As you say, a 3rd pin could have addressed that.

The way you handled it looks good. You took the time to get the fit and finish the way it should be.
