    Default Brass spacers

How do you cut and shape brass spacers? I know it is pretty soft. Can you shape it with a sanding wheel?

I imagine a Dremel would make quick work of anything brass...

Out of curiosity, where can you get brass stock the right thickness for spacers?

You probably need 1/8 or 3/16ths flatbar. Try a local machine shop or metal shop.

I've been looking for the same thing. The brass flat washers needed are essentially .062(1/16) x .25(1/4) x .015(thick). I have combed the Internet and can't seem to come up with them. I will not have them "special made". That's out of the question(minimum orders and all), cause all I want is one or two hundred. It's unpractical to buy those kits from Classic just for the spacer washers, but somebody makes them.

    Regards,

    Steve

If I find a source,I'll let you know. Would you, or somebody,do the same forme?

For the washers, look at microfasteners.com. You want #0.

    They don't carry the right size. Their largest #0, their #FWBW0, is .062 x .188 x .015. the .188 needs to be .250 (1/4") (ourside diameter)

    * I'm still working on it. - Thanks, Kyle -

Why do they have to be .25?

over here you can get brass shim stock of varying thicknesses at auto pro or a car spare parts shop , and at remote control aircraft hobby shops,I would imagine it would be the same in your neck of the woods

    Thumbs up

I remember a post here where someone (can't find the post now) used the head of a brass key for the spacer.

I make mine simply by taking some brass sheet, sawing out what I need and then filing until it fits the scales. Then I simply handsand it with 1000 girt paper to make it smooth.
Dremels work, but you have to be very careful because brass is very soft and you can easily sand away too much. Files and sandpaper works best for me.

I don't know where to get brass sheet either. They are just left overs froom cutting that I could get for free.
