Thanked: 23Wedge thickness?
I know I've asked this before, or found it somewhere, but for the life of me I can't find the info. I've only made a couple of razors so far, so it's not burned in my head yet.
I'm thinking the wedge needs to be about the 3/4 thickness of the blade, tapered to about 1/3ish of the blade thickness. So a 1/4" thick blade, .250, would need the wedge about 3/16" or .1875 tapered down to between 1/16" and 3/32"
Any suggestions?
And THIS time I'm writing it down!
Thanks

Anything I would have said is in the link you posted, lots of good info and links in that thread.
So, when are we getting pics of the razor you’re making?

First I determine the thickness of the wedge by how far down in the scales I want the blade to sit. If the wedge is too thick the blade will sit too low in the scales and vise versa or the blade could hit one the scales. Next I make sure the blade doesn't hit the scales by mocking up the razor with micro fasteners to make sure everything is going to go together correctly before final assembly.

Thanked: 23Thanks.
JFK742, it'll be a while yet, working 6 days a week, and have orders to finish. Got the blade machine finished and sharpened, and in fact have been using it a couple times without the handle. Need to spend two or six hours hand finishing, then make the handles. I'll make sure I post photo's when done.
