    Sounds like a good plan! I think their recommendation of a minimum of 12x12x12 is good advice. I made one first which was 8"x8" and 5" deep, and that was definitely on the small side, but still worked for small objects.

    You might want to consider not cutting out the "bottom", so you can flip the box on its back and take shots from things from the top. If you leave the "bottom" intact you can tape the flap to it, kind of like this.
