Ultrasonic Cleaning
I have been messing about with an ultrasonic cleaner recently. They have many uses from cleaning jewelry to removing rust.
Today I took a Bengall with rust spots, some pitting on the spine and quite a mess in the pivot area. I watched as the filth n rust came out from the pivot area. The blade came out tarnished but that was a light coating which the buffer easily removed to reveal a sparkling blade. The pivot area is completely cleaned out.
The Machine.
After 15 mins in special solution. (sorry no before pictures)
After a quick polish.
A clean pivot area.

We use one at work, for cleaning carburettors. Always wondered about putting a blade in one.
What temperature setting did you use.?
The one we use will reach 175° F or 79°C, and run for up to 55 minutes.
PM me with the solution, I'm curious if its the same as we use here. It tarnishes aluminum for sure.!, never stuck high carbon in it though. But it will clean out the smallest of passages in a carburetor, or fuel injectorsLast edited by outback; 09-03-2019 at 10:52 PM.

Here is an Mk31 & Joseph Elliot.
First photo is after 15 mins with dish soap and water,. It removed a lot of gunk.
Second photo is after 15 mins with the proper chemicals. The ratio was 10% chemical 90% tap water. I should have used distilled.
The Mk31 is just left with deep pitting.
