Something like this https://shavelibrary.com/w/Thiers_Is...ed_tang%22_5/8 but with two pins through both the tang and the cover so that you won't get any rotation.

There is another way covered tangs were done way back. The blade had a stub of a tang and the tang was one piece of ivory carved to look like a tang. It was fastened to the stub of the tang by inserting the stub into a mortise cut to fit in the ivory. the ivory was pinned to the stub with a rod peened flat on both side ala scales. A second hole was drilled through the ivory for the pivot point pin.

Hadn't considered taking removing metal from another blade. I may see what I have here. Most of my loose blade were given to other members or donated for wind chime material.

I think we want to replicate the broken piece so the blade will click-into the tang on the proprietary scales?
Yes. Someone with TIG can buzz a piece in there. Hand-fitment from there.

What are the chances of two surviving ottomans both having silver soldered tang repairs..
I shaved with that beauty too.

I seem to have a Wade and Butcher with a silver-soldered tail from somewhere.
