    Default Kamisori Rattan Wrap?

I have done some restorations on a couple of western blades, but have been on a kamisori kick since the zombie apocalypse has started. Ended up buying one for a restoration challenge. I figured I would rip off the old rubber handle, and wrap it with rattan, but I am having a hard time finding exactly what kind of rattan I need for this. And searching "rattan cord" on amazon brings up nothing but cotton wrapped wire. I am seeing plenty of "chair cane" or "basket reed" but not sure that's the junk.

Suggestions for those who have done this before? Can I use any of the cane or reed mentioned? And if so, what size? (I have seen mention of 2mm out there on the Nets)

And before you yell "That blade 'll rust!", I get it. Was planning on painting the handle, or using some clear nail polish to seal it first.

    Thanks!

For rust resistance, clean with acetone or brake cleaner, and then apply cold blue or black, rinse and dry each application, until the steel will take no more.
    YMMV

Possibly the chair cane although you may need to split it thinner for flexibility in your wrap.

Danke! Since chair cane seems to be my main open, I ended up buying some 2.5mm off Amazon.
