So I got this ugly duckling years ago, already cut to a shorty. Scales were gnarly, with something scratched in them that you could no longer read... rust and crud all over it. I got the blade really nice with a LOT of time spend on low grit sandpaper, and working up through finer grit until it was time for MAAS, and then it sat for years...

Fast forward to this past week when I found it again, and decide to finish it. Had to cut and sand scales down to size, and then put an edge on her:

I already hate it. The blade is ever so slightly askew here and there... not sure when that happened, as all my work was hand done with no power tools. But I spent a good 45 mins on the Chosera 1K trying to get a proper bevel to set. I never really got happy with it, even after adding a layer of tape (though that helped quite a bit), and using quite a bit of pressure. Went though nagura progression on a Nakayama Asagi Namito (first time using it... that thing cranks out slurry like you wouldn't believe!) and the bevel took the polish. Fatter bevel in some spots, and barely a bevel in others.

If this blade represented anything other than the challenge it was meant to be when I bought it, I would have a right mind to send it to Glen like I do all my troublesome razors (sorry Glen!), but I will try shaving with it once, and toss it into one of the cigar boxes with my other razors. If nothing else, it'll be good show and tell for the uninitiated.

It was fun doing it, though... and the best shortening of scales I have done so far, so I cant bitch and moan too much about it. (and note, I used a pivot bolt/screw so I can take the razor out easily and put another in for my next project, in case this one didnt work out!)
