Thread: Removing Puma inlay

I'm going to be rescaling my Puma with the cracked scales, but I'd love to rescue the Puma logo and install it on the new hardwood scales.

Any suggestions for removing it and remounting it? I'm thinking it would be possible to embed it in a layer of CA... Short of a really tiny router, I'm not sure what else to do.

let the scales sit in some boiling water for a few minutes, then pull them out and use the tip of a small knife to peel the inlays off. make sure you use something to hold the scales like an oven mitt or a dish cloth

If they're synthetic scales, you might try a prolonged solvent soak to dissolve the scales w/o touching the metal. Acetone is usually good for this, or MEK.

Since the scales were cracked at the pivot, I was able to pop the blade right out. I kept one scale to use as a template and dropped the other in boiling water for about five minutes.

The scale was plastic of some kind, and it curled up like a corkscrew. The emblem practically fell off on its own.

no problem...i posed the same question awhile back and used this method to remove inlays from 3 different razors. it's quick and simple

The wood is one of the ones you sent. It's light, with dark stripes in it. Do you remember which one that is?
