Default New set of scales finished (?)

Just thought I'd share a couple of pics of the new set of scales I've made, which will go on one of the loose blades I purchased before this summer and which I am still restoring.

The wood is allegedly Sheesham, and I polished them to 600 grit, sealed them with cyanoacrylate (i.e. superglue) and sanded them back to 600 grit, then took them up to 1200 grit and applied carnuba wax as a final polish/protective layer. The wedge is made of plastic, the pin is nickelsilver and the collars are steel.

I don't know if they are really finished yet, though, since the wedge isn't perfect. I might remove the pin and redo the wedge before I put the scales on the blade.

The pictures probably have a little bit more red in them than the scales do in real life, but not much, and they probably have a little more yellow in them in real life too, but I didn't want to fiddle around too much with the pics adjusting colors etc.

    /Nicholas
