Another Wapi in new clothes
Just finished this Wapienica for a forum member. It is African bubinga with ebony butt spacer and brass pin. The blade is the SFK-stamped blade with underside jimps.

Thanked: 1Well Jim, I gotta say you have taste similar to mine. The Wapi is a pretty simple, plain blade, and you've matched it with a nice clean set of scales. I especially like the square ends by the spacer, I'm a sucker for that look. Also the finish looks good, nice satin, not too over-glossy, which personally bugs me on wood.
Overall, I'm gonna have to give it a pretty high score man, very nice job. Would love to see how that ebony spacer stands out when you look at it on-end. Get that camera goin!
Beauty of a job man, keep up the good work!Last edited by bgertz; 09-07-2007 at 05:11 AM. Reason: Kyle76's name is Jim, not Kyle!

Thanks for your comments. I also like the rubbed oil finish. It looks and feels like wood -- not some plastic imitation. I use a gunstock sealer and then an antique varnish oil. It really buffs out nicely and should provide good protection. I've got the same varnish oil finish on my hard maple workbench, and it really takes a beating.
