Broken blade Help
Wow,
Been a long time visiting you fine people. I had not shaved with my Boker Edelweiss in a long time - pulled it out and found the blade tip broken off at a 45 angle - no clue how but suspect someone pulled it out to look at it and dropped it. I am beside myself (gssixgun, you actually held this when I sent it to you a few years ago to inspect).
So, can anyone help me pointing me to resources how to repair this, or maybe who to send it too? I realize I will be looking at a shorter blade but this is a nice piece an want to use it.
A little heartbroken .
Many Thanks,
Alpsman
All,
Upon further examination, the missing toe was not the only thing - the blade had a long crack towards the heel almost to the edge. So, I broke it off and attempted my first surgery. Unfortunately, it is not perfectly straight. However, I found a Boker Red Injun on ebay and snagged it in a fit a bummed out passion. I will but an edge on this and see how she rolls, it is the best blade I have for the upper lip mustache area. Think I my want to round this out a bit more. Thoughts?
Thank you all for your replies - especially Outback who helped me through PM.
Best,
TomLast edited by Alpsman; 12-15-2022 at 12:39 PM.

Man, that really sucks! I would make a round point out of it. That way you don't lose much overall length and it shouldn't encroach on that etch. Unless you're well versed and well set up I would stay away from the bench grinder and use a belt sander dipping in water often to reduce heat.
If you don't feel comfortable doing that I would send it out. There are a number of people qualified to take on that project. Mike (Outback) is the master. I imagine he will be a long soon. If not I'll send you a PM later.Iron by iron is sharpened, And a man sharpens the face of his friend. PR 27:17

Sorry about your razor! I had a John Williams that was great. I dropped it and broke the toe off. Outback helped me take that thing and bring it back to life as a "Shorty". Mike knows his business and mine turned out great!

Thanked: 4827Depending on what tools you have available, you can shorten it into a square or round point. They still shave well as shortened blades. I have a shortened FRederick Reynolds that had a crack from a weak tip that had been reground long before I got it. It shaves as well as the full length edge. It is heart breaking but recoverable.

PM me your address, I'll send ya a replacement.
If ya would have sent it to me, I would have put this blade in your scales, cut the other blade, shaped, made a set of scales to fit it, and honed it up.Mike

Bottom left, 1 3/4" cutting edge, 6/8" razor. The orange is acrylic. I bought a few blanks of it and custom made scales. I haven't used the razor in a couple years but it's a nice smiling razor. Works great in the hollows of the neck.
