    Default wood for brush handles

would purpleheart or pink ivory be suitable for making a brush handle? Intuition tells me you'd want a very dense wood (to prevent water absorbtion) and i'm not sure how dense these are...any help

They are both nice types of wood. I would suggest stabilizing the wood, Minwax makes a good product for this. The stabilized wood will be twice as heavy when it's done and will be water proof.
