Thread: Whatcolor goes with blonde?

Just ordered some blonde horn slabs for scales,and was thinking of doing a liner on the inside of the horn I want your guys opinion on what colors would go good with blone horn.

Blonde horn is such a beautiful material, so fitting with some of your blades... I would just polish it to perfection and nothing more.

Me! But my hair (what's left of it) is grey, and that slab's missing an "e".

As for a wedge
Most members always frowned when I mentioned that I use good "oll" lead. Its period correct its oh so easy to bash out a proper wedge and if you make a mistake just bash it more to reform and bash it again.

Find an acrylic dealer who sells samples, there are some on Ebay. Get a sample of every color, solid, translucent, pearly, etc. available. Hold one next to your horn and decide if you like that color as a liner or wedge or whatever you're looking for, then order the appropriate material in that color. The samples I use are big enough to get 4 wedges out.
Keep in mind thickness, as 1/8 acrylic would need considerable thinning to be used as a liner. you may be able to find thinner alternate material in your chosen color.
For honey horn I wouldn't use a liner, and if i did, it would be brass or copper sheet.

Yep, lead seems to go with anything. I usually set the Wedge-O-Mat to 'assorted' and can always find something to start with.

I don't see the need for a liner on horn, for thin Ivory or bone I like to resin bond a couple pieces of 3/4 oz. fiberglass to the scales.

Blonde or honey horn should be transparent. So u can see the blade inside them. But if I were...it'd be brass.

U could line the wedge with very thin brass, if you don't like the color of lead.

I'm with Mike. I was thinking, "why would you want to line horn?" I thought about brass too but it will tarnish over time. The transluscent blonde horn will then be darkened by the oxidized brass and show brown or green through it.

Hey Tom wasn't there a switch on your Wedge O Mat that if you switched it, it would turn the lead wedges to Krugerrands?
