    Default My latest restoration...

My latest effort... The blade is sanded to a 400-grit satin finish. The scales are padouk wood with a CA finish... Brass spacer.

It came out pretty well, but of course we'll focus on the flaws... I haven't gotten the hang of shaping the spacer perfectly... I managed to put a bubble in the finish at the pivot pin... And the blade doesn't sit quite right between the scales, but I'm pretty sure it's the blade in this case. When layed flat on my hone, it's not even... Grind is off center, I think.

Overall, I'm happy with it. This one's going up for sale shortly...

Still, pretty good work. I'd just recommend giving the tip of the spine a once-over with the 400. That part is usually neglected even though it's very easy once you get the hang of it. Good goin' Josh

Good catch there... That was actually partly a finger print. It could use a little buff with my Dremel bristle discs, though...

Sure do.. I put it on a W&B 13/16 chopper, but you shaped it better

I'm thinking about getting a small belt sander. Nothing like Bill's Burr King, but something to speed along the sanding and help even it out would be nice.

Looks familiar. That bubinga has a really nice color and grain.

Oops. Did I get the name of the wood wrong? I got the wood from Jim, so he would know...
