Here is the other set of scales that I have been working on. They are made of one piece of sycamore. The edge was painted black in between coats of lacquer. The blade is a Ramapo wedge. I tried several different shapes for the washers I settled on the cone shape. I turned the brass in my wood lathe.
When I first put it together the blade would not stay closed, the tang/shank is wedge shaped and popped out of the scales. I fixed the problem by using thicker than normal washers between the scales and the blade.
