    Default Zebra Wood

I picked a couple of nice little pieces today and happily the are just perfect for my wapi.

I could use some finishing suggestion. Anyone here a zebra afficianado?

I like to finish my Zebrawood scales with a glossy finish. I personally think it looks really purty with that finish.

Since the wood is not as heavy as say Ebony or Cocobolo, to maintain a good balance I generally use if with lighter hollow ground blades, and also a metallic spacer to have the right balance.

I have to agree, Zebra wood would look great with a CA finish, and a metal spacer...
Another idea would be to do a layered spacer black and white or brass and aluminum ?

You guys are way ahead of me. I'm looking at polymerized tung oil at lee valley. I may simply reuse the spacer from the wapi for now but something with an ivory tone might be nice.

Then match a brush to it either in ivory or in zebra wood.
One thing at a time. Plenty of sanding to be done.

I also picked up some black walnut, cherry, cedar, birch, fir and basswood and I've got a nice piece of cocobola.

I will likely start with the basswood for figuring out what I like
cheap and easy to work with.

The fir, birch, and cedar will likely be used elsewhere.

The zebra, walnut and cocobola are headed for my wapis.

The nice man at the local specialty store took my phone number today and will cut me 1/8" off-cuts of their exotics. He is my new best friend.

They have a piece of olive wood to die for.
