Default Wade Butcher 6/8 Hollow Ground Custom Scales

Wade Butcher 6/8 Hollow Grind with the EELL finish, this razor is as new.The scales have a Shepherds cross .I made the cross out of 3/32 German silver.I usually make them out of brass, but have a lot of this silver pin stock,so will probably use it more if people like the way it looks. This razor is really beautiful in person, and an excellent shaver.Best Regards gary

A lot of the restorers around here do a great job Gary, but I suspect your work makes them feel a tad...well...inadequate!

+1 on that! I'll finish something that I'm working on and think "great"! Then I go back and look at some of this stuff...it's like winning 10 cents in the lottery or something...

Gary's work and some of the others that we have here are like a benchmark for me.

I think you should maybe keep this type of opinion to yourself JMS. You have no idea who holds what opinion and I don't think it's very "gentlemanly" of you to state these things out loud.

Maybe so, but it wasn't meant as an insult. I find all the restoration work here outstanding, but I am rather partial to Gary's work! I, on the other hand have no talent when it comes to restoration!

We used to have a guy here named Vlad who did outstanding work,I dont know if his posts are still here,Ill look.He is a real craftsman. But you are right we have a lot of talented guys here.I really dont care what other people think,I do them for me,and have 4 regular customers(retailers) who will buy all I want to sell,at my outrageous prices.I like to post some here, and sell some vintage stuff here, cause I think some of the guys might be interested in owning them.I dont think any one could make a living selling razors.I have a friend who sells a lot of razors on e bay reconditioned, and shave ready (around 300 razors a year),and he says he doesnt make much money ,less than he could make at Wall Mart
Its interesting to watch the guys posts, and see how they progress over the years, and keep getting better and better....I also think we could get much better stuff to work with a few years ago, nowadays you have to regrind just about everything to make a decent razor
What I really like is to see the razors the guys are making they really are doing some beautiful stuff Robert,Joe,and Josh to name a few

    Best regards gary

Vlad's work is great! On Bill's cd there are a lot of links to his blade works. I agree Gary. Earlier I just wanted to say that no one's work should really be compared to another's. I love a lot of guys work, but it really isn't fair to anyone to compare them all. Obviously people have their own opinions. I do not think that JMS meant to insult anyone, but I think it is better to just keep posts positive about the work in question rather than kind of an unconscious dig at anyone else's.

That being said, Gary I think you know I hold your work in very high esteem! Another great blade!
