Unhappy Do NOT, under ANY circumstances...

... Work with CA on a marble table.
Because you cannot scratch it off afterwards. It literally eats its way down, leaving significant pits behind.

I coated the insides of some scales with CA to seal them for moisture.
But some of it ran through the pin holes, gluing the scales to the table.

I could remove them easy enough because it didn't really stick to the table, but the surface was busted.

So the table top was not mint anymore, and it will experience a lot of other acidents after this one, but it still sucks because I like the table. It measures 2 by 5 feet, and is about knee high. It is in our living room between the sofa and the TV, which is where I do most of my restor work.

CA likes to do stuff like that. Also watch that it doesn't drip down the side of the bottle, if you're using a bottle, and form a permanent ring on whatever surface you set it down on.

Acetone dissolves CA. Hope this helps! Good luck!

As cured CA is acrylic plastic, methylene chloride should be suitable for dissolving it. It's a bit tougher to get hold of, most plastics manufacturers would have it on hand as it's used to bond acrylics by melting the edges of both parts and thus allowing them to bond together. The stuff is reasonable safe and works much faster than acetone.... still, acetone does work albeit a bit slower.

Very true. However, a solvent like acetone would probably also dissolve the surface of my desk, and I suspect it wouldn't do Bruno's coffee table any good either. Marble is metamophisized limestone, and limestone is dissolved by a number of things.

You just gotta watch where you're stickin' things.

Oops, I should have mentioned that methylene chloride is the solvent of choice in paint strippers.... it does dissolve stuff.... lots of stuff!

Regardless of whether it would dissolve CA or not, would it unmake the holes in my table ?

I figured I'd sand the spots with high grit to make the CA transparant.
Dissolving it would only make them deeper.
