    Default Razor tear down

So I'm new to all this! Sort of a hobbie junkie, Rc cars and Boats & small electrics. I just bought a nice blade from one of the sellers in the forums here. I have always wanted to try straight blade razors so here I am. Over the weekend I went to a few antique stores looking for some, and came across a few cheap priced blades $8-$20 each that I figure I can fiddle with and try restoring.

So my question here is... Do you tear them apart to clean them? And If so how do you delicatly remove the pins to not harm the scales?

Ive already strated to clean one up with my dremmel and some mothers polish and its looking great. Just dont want to destroy it taking the scales off.

The best way to get the scales off is with a dremmel and the cut off disc. You will have to repin with new pins though. If you can cleanup without removing the pins and scales that is the better way to go. usually people will remove the scales because the razor needs major grinding for costmetic reasons or they intend replacing the scales altogether.
