Noob question about pining str8
Hi,i just picked up this razor from ebay there is rust around the pivot,i eventualy will want to remove the scales to clean it properly.what i would like to know is i have seen pics of rescaled str8's using the brass washers and rod ,where would i find the silver colored pins to match the ones on this razor.

now that IS a great question... I've been curious about this as well and just have not bothered to ask... I think I'm going to try a 1/16" welding rod for a "silver" pin... i have seen Maestro Livi do this, in one of his vidoes, but the stick is a bit harder than brass as far as i can tell.

Many of the better hobby stores carry both brass and stainless steel 1/16th rod, but the stainless is a little trickier to peen since it's pretty hard. Brazing/welding rod should work well. Or, you can buy the pins from classicshaving... last time I did they were sliver colored.
