What now? Dubl Duck
I just bought this dubl duck goldedge for 26$ on Ebay. And i was wondering what i should do now in restoring this blade. The first thing I know I need to do is straighten the scales but with the cracks i have no idea how to get around it. Are the scales even salvageable?

I would retire the scales to the display cabinet an make a new set. I don't think those will stand up to use. So I guess thats where to start.

Thanked: 13245FIX
3 ways I would think of to fix this:
Easiest= Snag another set off the Bay with a broken blade Cheap
Easy = Make a wood set and use the bolsters and DD logo on the wood (PRETTY when done correctly see the archives)
Tuff = Get some thin brass and make liners
Have a great day

I'd say don't bother with those scales. The blade will need a lot of work to fix that poor honing and make it look good.

I Think i am gonna make wood handles for this one though
By straight i meant like slap it straight. I do not mean grinding it down until it's straight. Also when i was taking the symbol off the bottom i smelled vinegar, so i guess it had to go. Once i get the scales done, I will probably send if off to lynn if he will do it. Thanks for the help
And at 26$ i thought i was getting such a bargain ehh that's ebay for you.Last edited by Evan; 03-14-2008 at 03:25 AM.
