    Default washer opinions

i've come across a few of these washers and wanted to get a general opinion on them. i know that everyone has their own tastes but thats what i want to hear. do you like the look of the washers or no. do you think that on a "manly" razor such as a WnB that they shouldn't be used but would like good on a smaller razor? etc etc. perhaps only 1 on the spacer end but not on the tang end?

    thanks for the input.

    thank you for your opinions,
    ~J

The washers are a bit "ornate" for my tastes. I much prefer the simpler rivets and burrs found on most of the vintage razors. However, your overall job looks very nice.

Ive used them before ,as a special request,I think Bill Ellis, and a few others used them on a few razors. They are available in all sorts of shapes and materials,as bead caps. The general consensus back then was that they might be OK on a ladies razor.I personally do not like them.Best regards Gary

    I don't like them either!
I do however appreciate the occasional artistic flourish such as this!

I'm a minimalist as well. I'm sure someone is bound to like that sort of thing though.

I think they are ok. I can see someone really liking them though (there are people who do). They remind me of spurs for some reason and give a "western" feel in my opinion. I am talking about those washers that you used in particular. It comes down to personal preference as with a lot of razor options.

I like them, in restraint. I think the scales J put them on just aren't the right fit for that ornate washer treatment. For instance, I think the already somewhat fancy Hess scales look OK with one just at the tang end:
