W&B for Gentlemens Use 7/8 - Restore - Bolivian Rosewood
I finally finished the restore on this W&B For Gentlemen's Use 7/8 Wedge.
The scales are made from Bolivian Rosewood w/ a satin finish.
I really like the tang on this blade. I have yet to hone this baby. Hopefully it shaves as good as it looks

Yes, YES, a very nice piece of work. I happen to know a gentleman who could use it just fine!
Speaking of that--
What is the story on the "Gentlemen's Use" and the "Barber's Use" razors? Any real (or even imagined) differences? And, why would a razor for use by a gentleman have a barber's notch???

I'm a real sucker for nice, handmade wood scales like that.

Thanked: 735That monkey tail tang is sweet! Probably necessary to keep a firm grip on that big hunk o' iron! Looking good!

Thanked: 150Thats a beautiful finish on the blade, very nicely done!
will you tape the spine before honing? Otherwise your mirror finish will be all scratched up, if it's a true wedge. Just a thought.

You are correct. I will be using some electrical tape before taking it to the hone and it will have be started on a lower grit stone to establish a bevel.
It is a wedge, and the geometry of the blade does lend it self to longer and more pronounced scratches from honing. I hope to tackle that some time today or early next week.
