WOW!!!! That looks awesome...I think I may have to come up with a project for you to do. With that kind of talent , you should be kept busy!!!! I wonder if you can come up with arazor box that holds a larger number of razors, more then just a seven razor set. Inlays like that on a lid should be awesome.

Thanked: 105etching on blades
Yes. I have had mixed results. Some turned out nice and others were less then desired. Stainless steel etches nice as long as it is not the real hard stuff. I do SS zippo lighters ,coffee mugs etc.
Since I am using a Co2 laser, the etching is done by putting a coating on the steel and the heat of the laser bonds the coating to the steel. The coating that is not touched by the laser is then washed off. Some times the coating will discolor or darken the steel. It can be buffed or rubbed out to shinny steel but in so doing you also buff or rub some of the etching off.
I did a razor then sanded and buffed it back to shinny steel to see the durabillity of the ecthing. It took about an hour of sanding with 1000 grit papper and then about 15 min. on the buffer. You could still see a faint image of the etching but it was basicly gone.
So far I have not been able to tell which will or will not work , so at this time it is hit or miss.
Hope this helps.
Thanks
Tim
