Gents,
I am unknowing... "EL" and "EELL" what do they mean, i know they refer to the level of brightness to to finish of the blade, and how does one achieve them?
Gary, your work is outstanding but, besides time and experience, how can the rest of us start getting such nice finishes?
v/r,Be just and fear not.

Jim, sorry to get back so late to you with an answer, but the fish were bitting up around three islands,so had to take care of some more important business. The whole EL,EELL deal came up as such.Along time ago in a galaxy far,far away ,when I was a young man,I had gotten lucky early on and achieved some financial success,so I commissioned a pair of shotguns to be made by a renowned Italian maker, when I went over there to confirm the deal and get fitted for the stocks,I was asked whether i required the EL,or EELL finish (If I remember the EL was for Extra Luxury, and the EELL was for Extra Extra Luxury Luxury in Italiano( the difference was around 30 k per gun)I decided on the EELL and still own and use the guns for live pidgeon competition. They gave me the spec for the difference in finish ,and we started using it as a joke (initally) in a tool and die shop I owned in Fort Lauderdale Fla.We specialized in custom multi cavity injection mold(which requires ultra hard/ultra fine finish) We also did a lot of final polish on some custom firearms for a few manufacturers ,and used the plagerized El ,EELL designation around the shop The EL is around 30k and the EELL is 60/100k in grit size polish. I think I read something on one of the posts(think it was Philadelphia) whosaid he didnt like the ultra mirror finish much as it shows every defect, and scratch,I have to agree with him,I prefer a more mat,or even a satin finish most times, but the mirrior finishes seem to be more in demand

I'm glad somebody asked that question. I was just going to ask it my self! The cross looks great.

Those are really nice polish jobs. I can see no pulling of the makers stamps anywhere, Now that is hard to do!
