Thread: Chipped Blade

well, a few days ago my little brother being the genius that he is, went into my room looking for something to cut some paper with, spied my straight razor sitting on my desk (how he missed the four other knives including two raptor claw knives i have no idea) so he proceeded to use my very fine straight razor as an exacto knife and subsequently put two chips in my blade and wearing down the front of the blade. What would i have to do to restore my blade so that i can shave with it again without shelling out $80-$100 dollars for a norton stone that i would probably use very little. duck tape him to a chair, use your chipped str8 and shave him bald. use straight alcohol as aftershave. feel the burn and irritation from that letter opener!!!

then hone or send to be honed.

I agree with vgod, after that I bet he never sets foot in your room again! Send it out to a reputable honemeister and it will come back good as new I bet.

easiest thing is to send your razor out to a honemiester to get it fixed up. make your brother pay for it.

you should express to the honemeister that the blade has problems and why. you should take some close up pictures and include them in a post here or in the PM to the honemiester.

if someone asked me to hone their razor i would assume it doesn't have chips. if it does it will significantly change the amount of time and work required to bring it up to shave ready thus the price of the honing if its even fixable in the first place.

so be up front and give all the details..then send it out to the honemeister. you'll get back your blade in usable condition
