Thanked: 0tile saw as a wet saw
I was given an Old Glory square point with a chip and crack. Thinking of making it a shorty. I know getting the blade too hot will make it lose its temper. Has anyone ever tried usiing a wet tile saw to cut down a razor?
thanks

David,
I haven't tried it, but I have used a tile saw and worked with a few razors, too, and this sounds like asking for trouble to me. The razor might shatter.
A better bet would be a disc or belt sander of some kind. If you take your time and keep dipping the blade in water to cool it, you can shorten a blade on one of these tools pretty easily.
Good idea on shortening the blade, though. The stubby blades are kinda fun to use.
Just my 2 cents,
Josh

I would think a saw like that is designed to cut stone, rock tile that kind of stuff. If it has a diamond blade I probably wouldn't use it on the razor but thats just a guess on my part.

Thanked: 8I've had good luck using a combination motorized combo bench grinder/wet stone. I use the higher speed grinder (3600 rpm) to slowly grind the blade end down, dipping in water all of the time so blade doesn't turn blue. I follow this on the wet grinder (350 rpm) to shape the blade end.
I think I picked this up at Harbor Freight for around $100.
