Wostenholm IXL Frameback with Carbon Fiber
Here is my third Carbon Fiber set. My favorite. It is a great looking Wostenholm Celebrated IXL frameback razor with my CF scales. I did a fancy "jimp design on the scales too which I may never do again (hard to eyeball that stuff well- cause for lots of stress!). Three pins at the end which I think looks great. This blade is actually 7/8 at it's widest! I LOVE the point and how the spine follows the curve of the scales. This razor was trashed when I got it, but I did my best to bring it back. Although there is still plenty of pitting remnants etc. I like the look. It is rugged and looks used but new somehow lol. If anyone wants some CF scales done, PM me! Enjoy!

If you want to know how long it takes in general to make carbon fiber scales- it's tough to say. I mean it will really depend on numerous things: the individual and his/her comfort/experience with scale making, the tools available (this has a lot to do with it), the detail involved etc. Theoretically it could take about the same amount of time to make a similar set from wood (slightly longer probably), but the thing is- CF doesn't need a finish which is nice. I really wouldn't suggest trying this material unless you have a lot of tools at your disposal though. Definitely not a "hand sand the whole thing in my small apartment" kind of project. I'm lucky my fiancé's dad has all kinds of tools that he never uses (although the belt sander which was imperative I bought myself lol).

EEK!
THird times the charm and this is the third I'm seein..
Love the detail of the cutouts/ribs.
The raised pins and positioning keeps the angularity of the piece as compared to the sweep of the previous one I just saw..
Quite an artist..
Marvelous work!
