Default How much for custom scales?

My RAD got the best of me the other day and I have 2 new Wapis on the way from Poland. I think I want to rescale one or both of them. I would love to do it myself, but don't think I really have the required tools. I still might give it a try with one.

On the other hand I would like at least one of them to turn out nice. How much would it cost to have one of the resident experts make and install a nice set of wood, bone or stag scales for my new Wapi?

    Anyone want the job?

    Mike
PS I sure am glad that I saw Josh's acid washed BST post after it was already sold. The wife would have been impossible for weeks otherwise.

I think prices stay in p.m.'s, but I know Traveler can make you up some custom scales to your specs and have them to you quickly. His are very classy looking unless you want to go the wood route.

Fair enough, I think I was looking for a range to get an idea of the expense involved. Obviously with anything truly custom will have a potentially wide range. I am just looking for some ballpark idea here.

Some will send you scales for the price of shipping - say $5 - and some will sell you some crazy customs (but beautiful crazy!) for much much more - say $80 - $100. It just depends on what you specifically want.

Posting a WTB thread with specifics (including your potential need of pins) in BST would be the easiest way to get some replies - or better yet, ask a mod to move this thread to the BST and change the title to "WTB: Custom Scales"...

Good idea, I was thinking the people with the skills would hang out in this one, but I can see the logic of your idea too.

Mods could you give me a move? or should I just make a cross post on my own?

    Thanks,

    Mike

They do hang out here - but the topic of your first post was more about how much do they cost rather than actually expressing the purchase intent, materials, etc.

Yeah, I would think just posting in BST with the WTB custom scales would be better, and maybe some of the restorers can post their pictures and what they cost in this post...
