    Default Steel Wool

Anyone tried wire wool for removing rust or polishing a blade?

    I have some at GRADE-#0000

The problem is not that it won't work it is just very non-user friendly
The strands catch on everything they possibly can, especially the end of a spike razor, and pivot pins, and jimps etc etc:
Of course this is JMHO and experience with it YMMV

Works well when using shellac on timbers. I believe #0000 to be the very finest.

As Glen mentioned the stuff can be a real PITA, but might just be great.

Yes, I made a typo. MY stuff is the finest.

I used it when restoring/re-tipping Snooker Cues.

Yep works great on Rifle Stocks too that's why I tired it on the first restore I ever did, I have a ton of it out in the shop, but yeah after tying myself to every protrusion on the razor I gave up with using it....
