Restoring a Saba
Hey all,
Normally I don't get into restoration. I like to look around, find a razor in good shape clean it up, hone it up and add it to my rotation.
I came across this in a local junk shop. It normally isn't something I'd buy, in fact I passed it up once but went back for it about 6 months later. I figured since it was still there it was meant to be.
Now there really isn't much in the way of MAJOR restoration. But a couple things I will mention. This was originally a spike but while cleaning it with the dremmel, the tip snapped off. I switched to the small grinding wheel and rounded it off. Not a bad job for a first attempt and I prefer round points anyway. Also, the biggest challenge will be getting the edge just right. Whoever had it honed it very wrong (on one side only) for a very long time. Yet when I held this in my hands something just felt right. Like this razor was looking at me and saying "Take me home, clean and fix me and I'll give you wonderous shaves." How could I say no?
It this the beginning stages of Razor Affective Disorder??????
